Rakeysh Mehra's next - Raja And The Legend Of The Flute or
Mirza Sahiba?\

Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is back in
the reckoning with the huge success of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. Obviously,
it's the question of 'what next' that is looming large on him. While there have
been reports of him beginning work on Mirza Sahiba, we have just been
informed that the one that could well make the cut is his dream project Raja
And The Legend Of The Flute.
"This is a film that Mehra has in mind for years. In fact it was earlier titled Paanch Kaurav and was touted to be a very expensive larger than life adventure. The film is set as a mythical thriller as it is centered on a hunt for Krishna's flute. He had plans for this even earlier on but then he started Bhaag Milkha Bhaag first," informs a source.
Now that he can well see good funds coming his way, Mehra has set his eyes again on Raja And The Legend Of The Flute. Not just as he plans to make it an English-Hindi bilingual.
When contacted, Mehra confirmed the developments. "Yes, I am working on the film. It would be made simultaneously in English and Hindi. The film would be set in 1920 during British Raj and would have a larger than life appeal to it. It is going to be an action, romance and drama affair, in that order. In Hindi it would be called Raja Aur Krishna Ki Bansuri."
Meanwhile, one wonders what happens to Mirza Sahiba.
"Oh that is going to be my first foray into pure romance," he says fondly, "It would be set in contemporary times though. It is a romance and action affair. Gulzar bhai is writing it and once the script is done, we will make the film."
As for the one which would go on floors first, he says, "There are a lot of variables when you make a film. Whichever completes my equation first, I will begin work on it. I am very happy with both the ideas."
For obvious reasons, he is non-committed around the cast as yet. "I will talk about it, which should be soon," promises Mehra before signing off.
